Christian Saehrendt has written an original book for documenta
Kassel is home to the Brothers Grimm and the city of the documenta. What could be more appropriate than a fairy tale book written about the most important exhibition of contemporary art?
Christian Saehrendt has done just that. "Is it art or can it go?" is the name of this different guide to the documenta. The book is aimed at all those "who throw caution to the wind and dare to go into the documenta city." Because the author, a native of Kassel, aptly notes the Hessen lands have a lot to offer. It is teeming with mythological creatures and dark places.
Also in the art world. Saehrendt compares for example the curators of documenta with fairy-tellers and wizards that turn the audience into amazed children. The author gives in his book, helpful hints for a visit to Kassel, describing various sights and works of art. He also gives anecdotes for the best exhibitions from the past twelve documentas.
Original stories that both entertain experienced documenta visitors and newcomers to north hessen. (Pamela de Filippo)
